Early Risers and New Projects

Life lately has been the typical start of the school year whirlwind!
Andrew is in 9th grade this year, at a wonderful school - we are all so excited about what this next chapter will bring for him. It's not even a chore to get him up in the morning!
Philomena had her first day back at the parish preschool program yesterday, after counting down the days all summer! Andrew has been avoiding the paparazzi, but Mena allowed for millions of photos.

These last few weeks nave been so exciting and eventful. I'm glad to be back in the regular swing of things and the start-over feeling we get each fall. And with this new season come some new opportunities and projects! Stay tuned to hear about some upcoming work with Into the Deep, Catholics Online, and Kindred Catholic.

Our Lady of Czestochowa - August 26th

There are more than a few incredible things about the image of Our Lady of Czestochowa, patroness of Poland.

First, tradition tells that the image itself was created by St. Luke the Evangelist upon a cypress board that the Holy Family used as a tabletop. It was taken to Constantinople in 328 A.D. and stayed there for over 1000 years.
Then, in 1382, Tartars stormed the palace, and a stray arrow struck the Madonna's throat - a wound you can still see on the icon today. Under the care of Prince Ladislas, it was to be taken into the town of Opala for safekeeping. However, when the prince passed through Częstochowa, his horses refused to move! So instead, the icon was placed in a monastery there, where it remains.
In 1430, Mary’s face was struck with a sword during an invasion at the monastery. Again, damage from both attacks can still be seen on the image, which is why most depictions of Our Lady of Częstochowa feature scars.
In 1655, when Poland was under threat of invasion by Sweden, the people prayed to Mary and credited her intercession for their safety. Our Lady of Częstochowa was crowned Queen of Poland, and devotion to Mary under this title has continued to grow!

No doubt you've noticed a huge increase in businesses using AI graphics and flyers. It seems to be a big point of contention in online debates. Even Pope Leo has weighed in on it!

Learning the tools yourself, instead of skipping straight to a prompt, is one way to keep that human vision at the center. I see this topic discussed (and argued over!) often in social media threads. Instead of adding to the debate, I've decided to offer one of the things I do best in my "real world job": training others to use technology and design tools. So I'm reviving my freelance biz.
